Terms of Service
Draft pending legal review. These terms are a working draft prepared to describe the service accurately. Have a qualified attorney review them before Teylo accepts paying customers.
1. What Teylo is
Teylo is a conversational companionship service delivered over SMS text messaging and telephone calls. Teylo provides four conversational personas — Tess, Ebz, Jamie and Frankie — each reachable at its own phone number.
These personas are artificial intelligence, not human beings. They are software. They will tell you so if you ask. Nothing they say should be understood as coming from a person.
2. Who may use Teylo
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract. By using Teylo you confirm that you are.
3. Teylo is not a professional service
Teylo is not therapy, counselling, medical care, legal advice, financial advice, or an emergency service, and must not be used as a substitute for any of them. Conversations with Teylo are not privileged or confidential in the professional sense.
In an emergency, contact your local emergency services. In the United States you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or dial 911.
4. Messaging terms
You begin using Teylo by texting or calling one of its numbers from your own phone. That first message is your consent to receive messages back at that number. Teylo does not send messages to numbers that have not contacted it first.
- Message frequency varies and depends on your own conversation.
- Message and data rates may apply — these come from your carrier.
- Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT to any Teylo number to stop receiving messages. You will receive one confirmation and nothing after.
- Reply START to resume.
- Reply HELP for support information.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and message delivery is not guaranteed.
Teylo may occasionally message you first about something you raised in an earlier conversation. You can turn that off by telling any companion to stop, or by replying STOP to stop everything.
5. Phone calls
You may call any Teylo number. Calls are handled by automated conversational software. Call audio is processed to generate replies, and transcripts are retained as described in the Privacy Policy. Teylo will not call you unless you have explicitly asked it to.
6. Free trial, subscription and billing
New users get a seven-day free trial. No payment card is required to start it. The trial begins at your first interaction and runs for 168 hours. Reasonable usage limits apply to prevent abuse.
When the trial ends, continued use requires a paid subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and are billed through Stripe. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal link Teylo sends you; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.
Your conversation history is never withheld to pressure payment. If your trial ends or your subscription lapses, your history is retained. If you return later, it is still there.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Teylo to:
- break the law or help anyone else break it;
- harass, threaten or abuse any person;
- attempt to extract another user's information;
- impersonate someone else or misrepresent your identity in order to gain access;
- probe, scrape, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or use it through automated systems rather than a personal phone;
- resell or redistribute the service.
Teylo may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
8. Content and accuracy
Teylo generates responses automatically. Responses may be inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate to your situation. Do not rely on them for decisions that matter without checking independently. You are responsible for what you choose to do.
9. Your data
The Privacy Policy explains what is collected and why. You can request an export or deletion of your data at any time by contacting support@teylo.app.
10. Service changes and availability
Teylo is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Features may change. The service may be interrupted. Teylo does not guarantee uninterrupted availability or message delivery.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Teylo is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the service. Total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim arose.
12. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. Material changes will be communicated by text message or on this page before taking effect. Continuing to use Teylo after a change means you accept it.
